Introduction: Panic disorder is an anxiety disorder characterized by unexpected and recurrent panic attacks, which in some cases may require hospital care due to intensity, comorbidity, or need for clinical assessment. In Chile, recent information on hospital discharges for this diagnosis is limited, particularly after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: A descriptive ecological study was conducted using secondary data. Hospital discharges among people aged 20 years and older recorded in Chile between 2021 and 2024 with primary diagnosis F41.0, corresponding to panic disorder according to ICD-10, were analyzed. Crude rates per 100,000 inhabitants were calculated by year, sex, and age group. Results: A total of 446 hospital discharges were identified. The mean annual crude rate was 0.80 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The rate increased from 0.66 in 2021 to 0.97 in 2024. Among women, the rate was 1.01 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 1.80 times higher than the male rate of 0.56. The highest rate was observed in the 20-44-year age group. Discussion: The observed increase suggests a greater relative presence of hospitalizations for panic disorder during the study period, especially among women and young adults, although incidence or prevalence cannot be inferred. Conclusion: This study establishes a recent national baseline for monitoring hospital discharges due to panic disorder and identifies priority subgroups for further analysis.
