Abstract

The Nuck’s cyst originates from an alteration in embryogenesis that results in defective closure of the canal of Nuck and may be complicated by infections. We present a clinical case and a review of the available literature. We report the case of a 46-year-old woman with fever and a right inguinal mass, in whom imaging revealed an abscess. Surgical drainage was performed, and a diagnosis of an abscessed Nuck’s cyst was subsequently made. Nuck’s cyst is often underdiagnosed because it can be mistaken for an inguinal hernia. Maintaining a high level of clinical and imaging suspicion, especially in the presence of complications such as abscesses, is essential for timely diagnosis and management. Furthermore, it is a rare condition in adult women that may be complicated by abscess formation. Its prompt recognition is crucial for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
